The Stooges band was started by Iggy Pop (real name: James Osterberg) in 1967. He recruited Dave Alexander (bass), and brothers Scott Asheton (drums) and Ron Asheton (guitar) to record the group's debut full-length self-titled album, which was released on the Elektra label in 1969.
