Ken Stringfellow and Jonathan Auer in Bellingham, WA founded the Posies band in 1988. They recruited Mike Musburger (drums) and Rick Roberts (bass) and recorded the Posies' first full-length album entitled Dear 23, which was released by the Geffen label in 1990. The record was followed by the band's second album called Frosting on the Beater three years later.
