Bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson, and drummer David King started the Bad Plus in 1990. The trio issued its debut full-length album, Fresh Sound, only in 2001. The record became rather successful and got good press. After that the band released the These Are the Vistas LP in 2003. Give appeared in 2004; the Suspicious Activity? Album followed in 2005.
