About Run DMC
Founded in 1982 in Queens, Run DMC has been wholly original in their new style of music, an old school hip hop before the genre developed any such sub-divisions. Run DMC were not the first hip hop group in New York, but were tougher than any of their predecessors. Run DMC developed a style and sound, in lyrics, electronic beats and Adidas kicks that would live on in later years, in the music of Public Enemy, Eminem and many others.
