East Coast rap and hip hop at large owe much if not all to Public Enemy, Long Island's best. One of the best and most influential bands ever, the sound of many groups was influenced by their rapping and scratching, political minded lyrics and groove. Public Enemy raised hands in the air and controversy among listeners over nine records since 1987.
