Daddy Yankee started off the reggaeton style in Puerto Rico back in the time that straight rap and hip hop were the common music performed and heard on the island. His insistence on artistic style proved right, as Reggaeton has become the norm and Daddy Yankee became famous on a worldwide scale with his 2004 single Gasolina.
