The ultimate New Wave icon Cyndi Lauper, Brooklyn born and raised in Queens, has followed her music career from the time she dropped out of high school and joined cover bands. A short stint with the duo Blue Angel ended in bankruptcy, but little did young Cyndi Lauper know at the time that her songwriting and singing skills would take her, and her songs such as Girls Just Want To Have Fun to the top of the charts by 1983.
