About Carlos Santana
In 1966 Carlos Santana founded the Santana Blues Band, and in time they elected his as their leader, due to a provision in the musicians union. They received a recording contract at Columbia, and released their self titled debut. Although this was the original Santana, It was not the band of later years. Carlos Santana bought the rights to the name (ironic that he had to buy back his own last name) and went on using the name.
